HTML Websites
Most of the smaller websites in the world are straightforward, simple HTML websites.
What does that mean?
It means that the pages are what they are. They do not change depending on the value of any variables. They do not interact with the user in any way beyond a standard feedback or contact us form. They have been built.. and uploaded... and there they sit.
With a normal HTML website, should it need editing, then it usually requires someone with knowledge of HTML to make the changes. There is no content management system or anything to amend the site.
HTML websites rarely sell anything online and have no logging in functionality or membership capability and no storage of any data.
HTML websites are usually cheaper than content managed websites or ecommerce websites because there is only the 'front-end' to design and build.
